Birmingham PAT testing: safety
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) involves checking electrical appliances to ensure they are safe to use. In other words, they are working correctly and are not likely to fuse or have loose wiring.
Unless you are a residential landlord, it’s not a legal requirement to have the test, in that commercial premises aren’t obliged to PAT test, but it’s certainly a good idea. It keeps your employees safe and means you will probably be covered by insurance should a fire start.
Birmingham PAT testing: appliances
Portable appliances, as the name suggests, refer to smaller items, such as toasters, microwaves, kettles, food mixers etc. But it can also mean larger items such as a fridge or cooker. It can be outside the kitchen too, such as a TV, radio or lamp.
A faulty appliance can lead to a tenant, employee or customer being electrocuted. It can also result in a fire should a rogue spark ignite.
