EICR certificate Birmingham: who needs it?
Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a requirement for all commercial properties and a statutory requirement for residential landlords. It is also a safety test that should be carried out regularly in public buildings such as libraries, schools, swimming pools and community centres. You can find out more about what’s involved in an EICR by referring to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Electricity at Work Regulations.
At Compliance Group Electrical, we are NICEIC-approved contractors. As approved members of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting, we can undertake any electrical inspection, repair, maintenance or testing on your commercial property. We will issue a certificate when it passes, which you can later use for insurance purposes..
EICR certificate Birmingham: what it involves
The EICR was previously known as a Fixed Wire Test, as the test was for checking electrical systems which were ‘hard wired’ into the building, and included plug sockets, light fittings and fuse boxes.
After an inspection has been carried out you will be issued with a report, which tells you which areas of the building were tested and by whom. Even areas not tested will be mentioned, outlining why this was the case. Following the inspection, you will be notified whether the building’s electrics have passed or failed. If the latter, repair work must be carried out to bring the electrics up to an acceptable standard.
