PAT Testing Companies London

What is PAT Testing?
- PAT testing involves electrical appliances
- A PAT test must be carried out by a skilled electrician
- PAT testing is mandatory for residential landlords
All electrical testing should be carried out by a ‘competent’ electrical professional. This means someone qualified in accordance with the updated wiring regulations (BS 7671).
They should also have at least two million pounds of public liability insurance coverage and professional indemnity insurance. Ideally, your electrical professional will also have at least two years of experience working in the field.

PAT testing companies London:
PAT testing involves checking electrical appliances to ensure they are working properly. Regular checking is a good idea in terms of safety and to guarantee the longevity of the item in question. It’s not a test you are legally obliged to have – unless you are a residential landlord and live in a local authority area with special licensing rules.
In addition, under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020, landlords must ensure all electrical installations in their rented properties are inspected. The test is to be undertaken at least every five years. Called an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), it involves a check of the sockets, light fittings, switches, the fuse box etc.
